Tap any word for an instant definition. Buckram ships with WordNet 3.1 and Webster's 1913 dictionaries built in — entirely offline, so lookups work on a plane, on the train, or anywhere with no signal. You can add your own dictionaries too.

🔒 PRIVATE BY DESIGN, NOT BY PROMISE

This is the part we care about most.

Buckram has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, and no tracking SDKs of any kind. There is no Buckram server. Your books, your highlights, and every page you've turned stay in a database on your own device, and we never see any of it.

The app only reaches the internet when you ask it to — when you search for a cover, or open a catalog you added yourself. Everything else, including every dictionary lookup, works completely offline.

What’s new

A maintenance update.
Buckram now handles the screen edges and system bars on Android 15 and later without relying on parts of Android that recent versions have retired. Phones with a notch or punch-hole camera are covered too.
Nothing in the app has moved, and your library, bookmarks, highlights and reading progress are untouched.
