Remanente is a field tool for professionals and technicians working in the silviculture of irregularly structured forests.

Developed from over a decade of experience managing the Chaco forest, Remanente supports real-time silvicultural decision-making during forest traverses—without requiring connectivity.

What is it for?
In irregularly structured forests, the decision of which tree to cut and which to leave cannot be made tree by tree without considering the overall stand. Remanente allows users to record each individual tree by species, diameter class, and destination, and to visualize the diameter distribution and resulting basal area in real time—so that every field decision is based on the structure of the entire stand.

Data is organized into projects → plots → transects, allowing simultaneous management of multiple work units within the same project.
For what type of forest?
Remanente is specifically designed for interventions in forests with irregular structure—those where trees of different ages, species, and sizes coexist. It is not suitable for forest plantations or even-aged forests.
About its development
Remanente is the evolution of SilvoINTA, an application presented at the 4th Argentine Forestry Congress (2013) and at IUFROLAT (Costa Rica, 2013), with downloads in Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Chile, Colombia, and Guatemala. Developed by Marcelo Navall, independent technician, advisor to institutions, producers and companies in the forestry sector of the Gran Chaco.
