About this app

SHIFT allows you to block distracting apps from your device at the push of a button.

When you are shifted, you cannot access distracting apps such as TikTok, Instagram, X, and more. You can still call, text, and access any apps that don't "waste your time".

To unshift, just click the button on our desktop application, and all apps will be accessible to you.

Accessibility API:

SHIFT uses the AccessibilityService API exclusively to support users in reducing digital distractions during active SHIFT sessions. Specifically, this API is used to temporarily block access to selected distracting apps (e.g., social media or games) while a SHIFT is in progress.

This functionality helps users enforce periods of focused attention, study, prayer, or rest by preventing app launches that they themselves have pre-selected as distractions.

The AccessibilityService is:

Only enabled during SHIFT sessions

Only activated with your explicit permission during the onboarding process

Inactive and disabled when SHIFT is off or paused

SHIFT does not use the AccessibilityService API to collect personal data, track usage, or modify system settings without consent. We do not interfere with system UI elements or accessibility features for users with disabilities.

Location Services:

SHIFT uses location services to determine if you are in a distraction-free zone as created by the user. This location is not stored nor is it shared or sold to a third party

Fantastic app for productivity! Support is incredible. Been waiting for this kind of app for years. It cuts out the internet, social media, and other distracting apps but also allows me to keep important apps that are tools I need, like phone, messaging, maps, music/podcasts, docs/sheets, weather, banking, prayer, and habit tracking. It helps me to be more accessible to life and family without going all the way to a dumb phone or wise phone. One-time fee instead of subscription is awesome!

Great app. It makes all non-essential apps not available for use and stops you from uninstalling the app when it is in shift mode. As of now it still needs some updates but the most important features work. I don't really know what focus mode is supposed to do (maybe some description would help). In future it would be great to control some sites on web from displaying and maybe add some music or sounds to play when in shifted or focus mode.

The promise is great, and I'm told it works well on Apple devices - on Android, the experience is spotty and unhelpful. The connection to the PC is unreliable. Apps are randomly killed by the software in shifted mode.
