About this app

TVGuard for TV is the parental control app for your Android TV and Google TV. Install it on the TV, pair it with the free TVGuard app on your phone, and it enforces the screen time limits, app locks and bedtime schedules you set — all locally, with no account and no cloud.

This app is the on-TV half of TVGuard. You control everything from your phone; this app applies the rules on the TV.

WHAT IT DOES
• Shows a pairing code so your phone can connect over your home Wi-Fi
• Enforces app locks, full blocks, bedtime windows and daily screen time limits
• Shows a remote-friendly PIN lock screen when a locked app or bedtime is active
• Protects itself (Device Admin) so kids can't trivially remove the rules

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• No account or registration required
• Local control works directly over your home Wi-Fi by default
• Optional online access can be enabled from the parent app for remote control
• Online access uses an encrypted relay to pass commands and status between your paired devices
• Only the current foreground app name is read, solely to enforce your rules. No screen content, text or personal data is collected, stored or sold
• The parent PIN is stored only as a salted hash on this device

PERMISSIONS (and why)
• Accessibility Service — to detect which app is in the foreground and show the lock. This is core to blocking apps
• Usage Access — to measure screen time and enforce daily limits
• Device Admin — so protections can't be removed without the PIN

SETUP
1. Install TVGuard on your phone
2. Open TVGuard for TV and follow the setup checklist to grant the permissions above
3. Scan the code with your phone to pair, then manage everything from your phone
