FAQs
=====
"Why do we need another money manager tool?"
Not only is RainCheque simple to use, but it also provides a feature that makes it unique: it keeps track of multiple participants. It also suggests you how you can settle all your accounts automatically by showing you who owes how much money and to whom.
"Cool. How do I start?"
Install the app and create a "session" every time a new group activity is started. Each session will have multiple participants. You can pick participants right off your contact list or enter the name manually. Once you add participants, all you need to do is add different activity details. All actions in the app are pretty self explanatory.
"Explain the app permissions"
The app needs only 3 special permissions (as of now. You will be notified if it changes in the future)
READ_CONTACTS: This is to read from your contact list so that you can add people directly from your list.
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: This permission is needed to "export" your sessions so that you can share it with your friends.
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: To "import" sessions exported as stated above.
"Are you sure the app works?"
The app has been tested by a dozen of people before being released. Bugs, if any, are long gone. Still, however, if you DO encounter a bug, please let me know so that I can iron it out as soon as possible.
NOTE: Low star reviews and bad words wont help me fix the app. Detailed bug reports or emails will. Please be nice :)
"How effective is the app?"
It really depends on you. The main thing that holds back any smartphone record-based tools is that the users tend to forget that they have such a tool installed in their phones. Try to use it on a regular basis and I'm pretty sure this will make your life simpler, which is the ultimate goal of any app.
"How did you make the app?"
The app is open source and can be found here: http://github.com/rhoadster91/RainCheque
For Android 2.2 and 2.3, the app uses Holo compatibility libraries by Prototik (HoloEverywhere) and Jake Wharton's amazing ActionBarSherlock. Thanks to them, even legacy devices can enjoy the simple UI of this app.
