I am hard pressed to figure out what is new in this app compared to the old image sync app from Ricoh. I think it operates a bit faster, perhaps, but has lost some functionality along the way. For example, remote shooting no longer has a live view. While the interface may look slightly prettier, I am not willing to trade functionality for it.

Geotagging photos with GR IV is very unreliable and slow. Every other time when the camera is turned off and on, previously accessed location is lost. It then requires Bluetooth to look for connection with the phone again, and that takes minutes to run. Often you'll have to manually reach the phone to open the GR World app to start the Bluetooth connection and location transmission. Sometimes you even need to repair with GR IV anew again because Bluetooth connection fails. Very frustrating.

update: Since the 2026 update, the app will only transfer the 10 most recent photos. original: Was away better than the old image sync app. It even supports opening to the inner screen on my foldable. Only problem I've seen is I can't transfer images over wifi when I have my VPN on.
