Luup is a members-only car-sharing club built around neighbourhoods. Borrow a car from someone on your street when you need one — or share the one already sitting in your parking stall.

CAR SHARING, BUT LOCAL

Most car sharing puts you in a vehicle from a lot across town, belonging to nobody in particular. Luup keeps it on your block. Cars are shared between verified members who live in the same neighbourhood, so the car you book is usually a short walk away, and the person lending it to you is a neighbour rather than a name on a screen.

Every member applies. Every member is ID-checked. Owners decide who drives their car and when.

IF YOU NEED A CAR SOMETIMES

You do not need to own a car for the handful of days a year you actually need one. Luup is built for the trips that make people think about buying:

• The Costco run and the IKEA trip
• Moving day
• Visiting family across the region
• A weekend away
• The appointment that transit does not reach

Browse cars near you, request the days you want, agree a pickup with the owner, and go. Prices are set by the owner and shown upfront before you book.

IF YOUR CAR SITS IDLE

Most cars in Metro Vancouver move a few times a week and cost money every single day — insurance, depreciation, fuel and parking do not pause when the car does.

Listing on Luup lets your car do something on the days it would otherwise sit still. You set the price, the availability and how far it can travel. You see a verified profile before you approve anyone, and you can always say no. Because Luup is built for short, local trips rather than long-distance rentals, your car stays in the neighbourhood.

Individual owners and small fleet operators are both welcome.

HOW MEMBERSHIP WORKS

1. Download the app and apply. It takes a few minutes.
2. Get verified. We check ID and driving licence for every member, on both sides.
3. Book a car nearby, or list your own.

Luup is application-based, which means not everyone gets in. That is deliberate. It is slower than tapping an app and finding an anonymous vehicle in a parking lot, and it is the reason members are willing to hand over a key.

Luup is launching across Metro Vancouver, British Columbia:

• Burnaby — Metrotown, Brentwood and the BCIT corridor
• Richmond City Centre — Brighouse, Lansdowne and the Oval
• Vancouver and surrounding neighbourhoods

More British Columbia neighbourhoods are being added as members join.
