About this app

SMS Backup & Restore is an app that backs up (creates a copy of) SMS & MMS messages and call logs currently available on the phone. It can also restore messages and call logs from already existing backups.

Note: This app requires existing backups to be able to restore call logs and messages. It cannot recover anything without existing backups.

4/13/26 The app hasn't worked for 10 days. I emailed support and was ignored. I will try it again someday when I switch phones but not as a daily backup. I use the free version. Works good when it works which is about 1/2 of the time. Uses a lot of battery and storage. I backup to Google Drive and auto delete after 2 days. I quit trying to cancel backups that seem to get stuck. Sometimes you can and sometimes you can't and it's very time consuming.

This app seems hopeful at first. And I couldn't help but have trust issues when granting it certain permissions during initial set up. Anyhow, once I finally started my initial backup....it never finished. If you have a TON of backing up to do, it always seems to time out due to an error or a similar "memory" issue that my phone was having to begin with. Plus, I kept getting a "close app or wait" type of message as I followed the steps to begin with (even though the app never stopped.)

It seems OK, but in my experience mm it does NOT do SCHEDULED backups. I have it set to unrestricted battery use, but that seems not to help. I tried sending logs and requesting help using the built-in message in the menu, but I am not getting any responses. When I press "Send" for sending the logs, a message flashes on the screen, but it is too fast for me to see what the message is. Would you please provide another way to send you the logs in case the built-in method is not working?

Please take a look at the following link to help troubleshoot scheduled backup problems https://synctech.com.au/faqs/schedule-issues/ You can manually send logs to support@synctech.com.au by opening Menu > Help and feedback > View app logs and then copy/paste from there.
