Practise for the Singapore Basic Theory Test (BTT), the theory test every learner driver and rider must pass before the Final Theory Test (cars) or the Riding Theory Test (motorcycles). This app is an independent study aid and is not official: it is not affiliated with, endorsed by or approved by the Singapore Police Force, the Traffic Police, the Land Transport Authority, any driving centre or driving school, or any other government agency. It holds 127 original practice questions written from the Traffic Police handbook, Basic Theory of Driving, each with an explanation.
WHAT'S INSIDE
• 127 practice questions in four topics: 59 on traffic signs, signals and road markings, 23 on the rules of the road, 27 on safe driving and hazards, and 18 on emergencies and special situations.
• 25 road sign questions with a picture of the sign. The sign pictures were drawn for this app; they are not official images.
• 67 flashcards for the facts worth knowing by heart, 25 of them with a road sign picture.
• 6 topic notes that set out key points, key terms and common mistakes.
• Timed mock exams that draw from all four topics.
• Review of the questions you got wrong, and a readiness score for each topic.
THE MOCK EXAM
The handbook does not publish the test format, so check the current number of questions, time limit and pass mark with your driving centre. The mock exam uses the app's own practice setting: 50 questions in 50 minutes, and you need 45 correct to pass. Each mock draws a fixed number of questions from each of the four topics.
THE EXAM TOPICS
The BTT covers traffic rules and regulations, signs and signals, and road safety. Practice is grouped into four topics:
• Traffic lights, signals and road markings: traffic signs, light sequences, police hand signals and the meaning of road markings.
• Rules of the road: speed limits, right of way, overtaking, parking distances and lighting.
• Safe driving and hazards: following distance, stopping distance, wet roads, skids and vehicle checks.
• Emergencies and special situations: road works, tunnels, expressways, emergency vehicles and breakdowns.
