Standing in a Korean restaurant, looking at a column of Hangul you can't read?
A general translator gives you the words — 김치찌개 becomes "kimchi stew" — but not whether the broth was made with pork. A barcode scanner is no help either: there is no barcode on a printed Korean menu.
K-Bap is a menu scanner built for Korean restaurants. It reads the whole menu with your camera and marks every dish against the ingredients you told it to avoid.
WHO THIS IS FOR
- Travelers with food allergies (peanut, shellfish, dairy, egg)
- Muslim and Hindu visitors checking broths and sauces for pork, beef, or alcohol
- Vegetarians and vegans looking for hidden anchovy stock or beef broth
- Exchange students and residents who eat out daily and read menus one line at a time
WHOLE-MENU SCAN
Point the camera at the menu once. K-Bap finds each dish on the page and draws a box around it, right on the photo. No barcode, no typing, no copying dish names one by one.
FOUR-COLOR READ
Green: no avoided ingredient found in the typical recipe.
Yellow: it may be there, depending on how the kitchen cooks it.
Red: an avoided ingredient is expected.
Grey: not enough information — ask the staff.
Colors are based on typical recipes, so treat them as a starting point — restaurants change what goes in the pot.
YOUR AVOID LIST
Set it once during onboarding: allergens, religious restrictions, vegetarian and vegan rules. Every scan after that is read against your list, not a generic one. Change the list whenever your needs change, then scan again.
DISH DETAIL
Tap a dish to see what it actually is: a plain-language description, how spicy it runs, and the price printed on that menu. Bookmark the ones that worked, and search dishes by name before you sit down.

Dish names and descriptions translated into English, 中文 (简体 · 繁體), 日本語, Tiếng Việt, Bahasa Indonesia, ไทย, Русский, Español, and 한국어.
WHY WE BUILT IT
We built K-Bap after watching friends visiting Korea point at a random line on the menu and hope for the best. For someone with a nut allergy or a religious restriction, "anything" was never an option. There is no barcode database behind this app — the camera reads the menu in front of you.
