About this app

RockCatalog is a private field notebook for anyone who picks up stones on the
trail, at the beach or in old quarries. Log every specimen with a species name,
date, location and free-form notes, then browse your growing catalog whenever
you want.

The app ships with a curated reference library of forty common rocks and
minerals: quartz, granite, obsidian, basalt, marble, slate, gneiss, pyrite,
hematite, azurite, calcite, feldspar, mica, gypsum, halite, amethyst, citrine,
jasper, agate, opal, tourmaline, malachite, sulfur, fluorite, garnet, olivine,
magnetite, bauxite, limestone, sandstone, shale, dolomite, chert, pumice,
tuff, schist, quartzite, chalk, coal and serpentinite. Each entry includes the
category (igneous, sedimentary, metamorphous, mineral) and a short field
description so you can identify what you have picked up.
