This application contains a set of guidelines aimed at organizing the maintenance and upkeep of parish buildings, whether they be churches, pastoral centers, rectory houses, service buildings, or rental buildings.
We recognize, however, that the reality of parishes within the diocese is quite diverse, making it impossible to capture and systematize all this diversity in a single resource. Therefore, this application was developed as a constantly evolving tool, open to collaborative improvement proposals, to accommodate the specific needs of each parish and contribute to the continuous improvement of this content.
This application presents several general guidelines and suggestions that can be adapted to the needs of each local community. Recommendations are included for the maintenance and upkeep of various building elements, such as masonry, stainless steel, ceramics, gas installations, doors and windows, doorknobs, structures, plaster ceilings, waterproofing, lighting, electrical installations, lightning rods, plumbing, fire prevention, sanitary ware, landscaping, painting, floor grouting, glass, and more.
Suggestions are also included for installing cisterns, solar energy systems, and emergency procedures, such as in cases of short circuits, fires, plumbing leaks, and sewage or gas leaks.
Furthermore, the app offers a table with suggested frequency for preventive maintenance on building systems and components, indicating the ideal frequency to ensure the good performance and longevity of the heritage.
We hope this app will contribute to the continued good stewardship of ecclesiastical heritage that our communities have already been implementing.
