Ronsel is the GPS tracking app for sailors. Designed for traditional sailing competitions (sloops and similar boats), it allows organizers, participants and spectators to follow the race in real time via the web viewer.
━━ HOW IT WORKS ━━
Enter the race code, your name and the name of your boat.
Accept the location permissions.
Press "start" — the app will record in the background while you sail.
Your position is automatically sent to the server every 5 seconds.
When you're done, press "Stop" to stop recording.
━━ FEATURES ━━
▸ Background recording — a Foreground Service keeps the GPS active even when you lock the screen or switch applications.
▸ Offline mode — if you lose data signal, GPS points are saved locally on your device and automatically synced as soon as the connection is restored.
▸ Low battery consumption — data is sent in batches every 5 seconds, minimizing network and CPU usage.
▸ Transparent privacy — only your name, boat name, and GPS position are collected during the race. Collection stops as soon as you stop recording.
━━ WHO IS IT FOR ━━
Ronsel is designed for participants in organized races using the Ronsel platform. You need a race code provided by the organizer to join.
━━ REQUIRED PERMISSIONS ━━
• Precise and background location: essential for recording your track with the screen locked.
• Internet: to send telemetry to the race server.
• Ignore battery optimizations: so that the operating system does not stop recording in the middle of a race.
━━ PRIVACY ━━
Location data is only used to show your position on the regatta map and for subsequent playback. It is not shared with third parties or used for advertising purposes. See the full Privacy Policy on the app website.
