About this game

Rookery is chess that meets you where you are — whether you learned the rules last week or have been playing for decades. Everything runs on your phone, so there is no account to create and no internet required.

PLAY THE COMPUTER
Five opponents with their own personalities and strength:
• Riley (400) — just learned how the horsey moves
• Casey (800) — plays for fun on Sunday afternoons
• Marcus (1200) — club regular, loves a good fork
• Tessa (1600) — tournament tactician who punishes loose pieces
• The Professor (2000) — calculates deep, rarely misses

PASS & PLAY
Hand the phone back and forth for a game with a friend. The board flips automatically so it always faces whoever is on move.

REAL CHESS CLOCKS
Bullet, blitz and rapid presets from 1+0 to 15+10, plus custom times. Increments, low-time warnings and correct flag handling — including the draw when your opponent can't possibly mate.

A DAILY PUZZLE
A fresh tactics puzzle every day, plus practice sets for mate in one, mate in two and winning material. Classic patterns from real chess history: smothered mate, Anastasia's mate, the Opera Game, Légal's mate and the Blackburne Shilling trap.

SEE WHERE YOU WENT WRONG
Every game is saved with its full move list. Replay it move by move, then run the engine over it to get accuracy scores and see exactly which move was the blunder.

TRACK YOUR PROGRESS
A rating that moves with your results, XP and levels, daily streaks, 25 achievements, and statistics broken down by opponent and time control.
