About this app

Safeinest Connect is the half of Safeinest that lives on your child's phone. A parent installs Safeinest on their own phone, this app goes on the child's, and a one-time code pairs the two.

Everything it does, it does openly. Your child can always see what is switched on.

WHAT YOUR CHILD GETS
• Family chat — message the people looking after them, any time
• Family calls — a voice call home over wifi or mobile data
• Family SOS — one tap tells the family something is wrong, and where they are
• Ask for extra time — a request a parent can allow or decline
• A daily mood check — one tap to say how today feels
• Their own word for their parent, and the whole app in their own language

WHAT A PARENT SETS FROM THEIR OWN PHONE
• App blocking — pause one kind of app, such as games, and leave school apps working
• Block now — pause the whole phone in one tap
• Bedtime and school hours — apps rest on a schedule, judged by this phone's own clock
• Live location — shared only while a parent has it switched on, and the child sees a notice on screen the whole time it is running

HONEST ABOUT WHAT IT CANNOT DO
We would rather you trusted us than be surprised later.
• Nothing here runs in secret. The child is told what is on.
• App blocking uses Android's accessibility service. Before anything is turned on, the app shows a screen explaining exactly what it reads — the name of the app on the screen, and nothing more. Tapping "Not now" is a real answer and changes nothing.
• It does not read messages, typing, or what is inside apps.
• A child can switch protection off in Android's own settings. We will never tell you this app cannot be removed.
• Android always keeps the notification shade, volume and power menu above any app. A pause covers apps; it is firm, not a full lock of the phone.

Safeinest Connect pairs with "Safeinest: Parental Control" on a parent's phone. On its own, it will ask to be connected to a family.

What’s new

Message safety reads more carefully: a news email no longer raises an alarm, and "I don't want to…" is understood as the opposite of danger. Pictures opened full-screen in the Safeinest Browser now say whether they were checked. Small fixes.
