About this app

Built to be simple to use, protecting your device with Safe Surfer is as easy as tapping the Get Protected button.

Safe Surfer is packed full of features to enable you and your family to surf the Internet without fear:

➤ Safer Surfing
Safe Surfer blocks a wide range of pornographic and adult websites. Once protection is enabled, these websites cannot load on your device.

➤ Eliminate Distractions
Sign in to enable blocking 50+ more popular apps and games.

➤ Remote Control (Pro)
Use the web dashboard to remotely block sites and view the device's browsing history.

➤ Mail Alerts (Pro)
Regularly send blocked sites and screen blackout events to an admin or accountability partner.

➤ Internet History (Pro)
View detailed browsing history stats on the device or remotely.

➤ Pin Protection
Built-in pin lock functionality ensures that only you or an accountability partner can configure protection and other settings inside the app.

➤ Prevent Uninstall
With a PIN code, prevent uninstalling or disabling the app without permission from the admin. Requires enabling the Accessibility Service using the checkbox under "enable always-on".

➤ Screen Blackout
Powered by machine learning, Screencast detection is a new way to deter the viewing of inappropriate content. When Screen blackout is enabled and triggered, a screenshot is taken and stored securely, along with the screen being temporarily blacked out.

➤ Wi-Fi and Cellular protection
Safe Surfer protection keeps your device protected—no matter what kind of network you are connected to.

➤ Zero ads and low resource footprint
Safe Surfer is ad-free and has a minimal impact on your device's resources.

Notes:

• As a parental control app, we use the Android AccessibilityService API for the sole purpose of stopping device users from uninstalling protection without the permission of a parent (or an accountability partner).

• Some mobile service providers and Internet service providers in certain countries hijack the ability to use specific DNS settings. The Safe Surfer app relies upon this ability. If this is the case in your country with your service provider, the Safe Surfer app may not work properly on your device.

• This app is free and open-source software (FOSS). If you are interested in contributing to its development, please visit our GitLab page: https://gitlab.com/safesurfer/SafeSurfer-Android

Awesome app! But, I got a way to bypass it. I can turn off the accessibility settings of the app by opening accessibility window in split screen (the annoying popup asking for password do not come in split screen mode). After turning off the accessibility settings, I can deactivate Device Administration of the app, and then uninstall it. I use Samsung Galaxy J5. It should force me to turn on accessibility again. It would be awesome if this bug gets resolved…

Hey there, thanks for your review. We've just tested this on a recent version of Android (12), and the accessibility-based PIN prompt is working correctly in split-screen mode. On a phone running Android 9 or higher, we would suggest trying within the app the Private DNS mode + stop uninstallation—this will resolve the issue. ^Kirwan

The producer of this app, is either a responsible parent or a very kindhearted person who just wants our generation to be better and more productive, because this app does exactly what it says it does and it's actually free which still amazes me, unlike other apps similar to it that would ask for unreasonable amount of money and still not work properly. though there are still some bugs to fix like how the app takes time to reactivate when you restart your phone, but it's still a 5star for me

Thanks for your review! If you go to the home menu of the app, try the "Enable always-on" mode. If you would like to support us, you can subscribe within the app for extra blocking and monitoring features. ^Kirwan

Amazing blocker app, just installed it for the very first time and i've got to say it's far better than the other blocking apps i've tried. I recommend this app, it works very well, altho i'm not quite sure if i can bypass this from disabling it from the accesibility menu. And one more thing the nudity detection doesn't seem to be working for me but except from that theres no problems!

Thank you for your review! When setting up Private DNS mode + stop uninstallation (app home > Enable always-on), we would usually get users to have an accountability partner set the PIN. We're continuously working on the nudity detection model, which we aim to update periodically via app updates. ^Kirwan
