SamRDP is a Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) client for Android phones and tablets. It opens an RDP session on a Windows PC, server or virtual machine you own or administer — the same remote connection you would open with mstsc, the Windows Remote Desktop client.

Built for a large tablet in a keyboard case used as a workstation; on a phone it switches to a layout of its own, raising the keyboard when you tap a text field.

Hardware keyboard, in full
• Esc, Del, F1-F12, arrows and the Windows key reach the session, not Android
• Ctrl+Alt+Del in terminal-session and raw-scancode form, so hypervisor consoles answer too
• Alt+Click, Ctrl+Click and Ctrl+Wheel keep their modifiers, as IDEs expect
• RU/EN on left Alt+Shift, mirrored into the session; Unicode for accented and non-Latin text
• On-screen F-key and numpad rows, and a movable pill of latching modifiers

Trackpad and touch
• Two-finger scroll, trackpad scroll and mouse wheel, direction invertible
• Tap to click, long press for right click, double-tap-and-hold to drag
• Pinch to zoom and pan, plus a movable precision pad with its own mouse buttons
• Three-finger tap opens the session menu; nothing sits over the desktop

Several RDP sessions at once
• Opening a second remote connection does not drop the first
• Each keeps its own Disconnect notification in the shade; triple Ctrl+Esc ends the one in front

Clipboard and files
• One clipboard shared across connected desktops: copy on one machine, paste on another
• Copy a file on the device and paste it in the session as a real file in Explorer
• Copy in the session and it lands in Downloads/SamRDP, with Open, Save to… or Share
• Share from any Android app straight onto a chosen machine's desktop
• File exchange both ways and layout mirroring use a small helper on Windows, installed and removed from inside the session; clipboard text needs none

Your machines
• Tiles with a picture of each desktop, most recent first, favourites on top
• Search, plus quick connect: type an address and go, with a history
• Launcher shortcuts that open one machine from a long press on the app icon
• Credentials encrypted with SQLCipher and the Android Keystore, behind an optional app lock (fingerprint, device credential or PIN)
• Desktop pictures can be switched off, and then none is taken at all

Settings an administrator expects
• Remote Desktop Gateway (RD Gateway) on saved connections, with its own credentials
• Security layer automatic, RDP, TLS or NLA; server certificates are not verified
• Resolution automatic, fit-to-screen, custom or preset; RemoteFX and H.264 where supported
• Per-connection performance flags, with a profile for metered networks
• Redirect device storage into the session as a drive

Privacy
No accounts, no cloud, no analytics, no ads, no trackers, nothing to buy. There is no SamRDP server and no relay: every remote connection goes straight from your device to the machine you named, and credentials stay on the device.

What you need
• A computer with Remote Desktop enabled and reachable: Windows Professional, Enterprise or Server, or a VM. Windows Home has no RDP server
• A 64-bit ARM (arm64-v8a) phone or tablet on Android 6.0 or newer; keyboard and trackpad optional
• SamRDP speaks RDP only and provides no computers of its own to connect to

Open source
SamRDP is an independent, modified derivative of the Android client of the FreeRDP project (version 3.26.0), used under the Mozilla Public License 2.0 and the Apache License 2.0. Third-party licences and links to the source code are listed in the app under Menu → About.

SamRDP is not affiliated with, endorsed by or supported by Microsoft, the FreeRDP project, or any device manufacturer. Remote Desktop, Windows, mstsc, Android and all other names are the trademarks of their respective owners.
