Sane Screen helps you build a healthier relationship with your phone by creating a simple pause between intention and distraction. Before opening selected apps, take a moment to breathe, reset, and decide whether scrolling is truly what you want right now.
Designed to be calm, lightweight, and easy to use, Sane Screen turns mindless screen time into a more conscious choice—without judgment, guilt, or complicated settings.
HOW SANE SCREEN USES ACCESSIBILITY
To make the pause work, Sane Screen uses the Android AccessibilityService API. With your explicit permission—which you grant yourself in Android Settings and can revoke at any time—the service notices when you open an app you've chosen to protect and shows your pause screen. It also counts rapid, repeated scrolling inside protected apps so it can gently interrupt mindless feed-scrolling, and it can shield websites you've chosen to limit in your browser.
WHAT THE SERVICE CAN AND CANNOT SEE
• Accessed: the name (package) of the app currently in the foreground, and the window and scroll events needed to detect when you switch apps.
• Never accessed: your screen content, messages, photos, passwords, or browsing history are never read, stored, or transmitted. All processing happens on your device—nothing leaves your phone.
• Sane Screen does not change your device settings, does not prevent you from disabling or uninstalling it, does not collect or share your data, and contains no ads.
Every protection is one you configure yourself. You stay in control at all times: permissions are optional and fully reversible from Android Settings, and the AccessibilityService is used solely for the pause and screen-limit features described above—nothing more.
