About this app

The "SaplingsApp" alternative communication app based on PECS – safe, intuitive, and effective.

Our app was created for children and adults who, for various reasons, require communication support. Based on the principles of the PECS system, it allows users to create a virtual book for alternative communication, fostering independence, a sense of security, and the ability to freely express needs, emotions, and comment on reality.

A book for alternative communication
Users can easily configure their own book – create categories and pages, add images, and customize the content to their individual needs. The app includes a proprietary database of approximately 1,500 carefully prepared images covering a wide range of categories: objects, activities, places, food, emotions, characteristics, and many more.

Creating Your Own Images
Each user can add their own images to the book. Simply take a photo, add a caption, and it can be used immediately like any other communication image. This allows the app to reflect the user's real, everyday environment.

Two stages of work – words and sentences
The app supports communication development step by step:

Word stage – the user selects a single image by holding it down. The image enlarges and is highlighted with a colored frame, signaling the selection. This is a simple and clear way to indicate a need, item, or action.

Sentence stage – a sentence bar appears at the bottom of the screen, to which the user can add images by holding it down. This allows for more complex statements, such as: "I want a green ribbon," "this is a large, green square," or "I see a lake and a forest."

Intuitive operation and user-friendly interface
The app is designed to be used by people with varying cognitive and motor abilities. Large elements, clear illustrations, and simple gestures make it easy to use and shorten the path from need to message.

Using the app helps users develop communication skills, express preferences, describe their surroundings, and make decisions. For many people, it is a key tool in everyday life – both at home and at school, in a therapy center, or during specialized classes.
