About this app

Measure your disc golf throws with your phone.

RipReader turns your phone's high-speed camera into a throw analyzer. Set your phone on the ground, throw your disc, and get instant metrics. No extra hardware required.

RipReader measures velocity so you know your actual arm speed and GPS distance from your throw to the landing spot. Every throw is saved with slow-motion playback, organized into sessions by date and location. An analytics dashboard tracks your averages, trends, and personal records over time. You can also build your disc bag and compare performance across different discs.

Dedicated throw measurement hardware can run $300 to $400. RipReader works with every disc you own, runs on the phone already in your pocket, and costs a fraction of the price.

Capture an entire field session, then review everything after.

app is easy to use and is great for quick, in the field metrics. for my 15 throws so far, it seems to be overestimating by about 3-5 mph based on similar feeling throws with a tech disc. but I have not directly compared by throwing the tech disc over the phone so maybe I was throwing fast today. regardless, having easy access to speed data in the field is a game changer

Pixel 7a. Speed detection works so-so, but failed analysis is quite common and very annoying. Analysis is also slow and often mistriggers on any movement that was not a throw. Android version doesn't detect spin. I had much better luck placing my phone 90° offset from the way it's shown in the illustrations. So sideways worked better and head on was worse. There's no info on what the pro version contains. Is it a subscription or one time payment?

Always wanted to get an idea of my throw speed but never wanted to pay for expensive equipment. This app was everything I needed. Thanks!
