About this app

Saws From Sunset turns color into sound. Point your camera at anything: a sunset, a painting, your own hand, and hear it become music in real time.

Two ways to play:

• Active — tap anywhere to play the note under the crosshair
• Passive — tap anywhere to stop playing the note.

A real synthesizer under the hood:
• 12 instrument voices, from flutes and ocarinas to warm pads
• Full ADSR envelope, glide, and a hands-on effects rack — reverb, delay, bitcrusher, tape saturation, chorus, shimmer, and an LFO
• 30+ scales and multiple tuning systems, including just intonation and 31 EDO — from familiar to beautifully microtonal

Layer on living “satellite” instruments:

• Heavens Arp — a shimmering arpeggiator that plays your scale
• Stargazer — ambient synths that bloom from the colors around you
• Fat Reese — a deep, evolving bass
• Chromatic Magic — cascading chromatic arps
• Color Memory Trails — painterly strokes that sing as you move
• Catophone & Doggophone — a choir of cats and dogs (yes, really)
• Lumen spirits — glowing creatures (Lumen, Mrs. Lumen, Dark Lumen) that sing melodies to the lights they find, and can face off in a Lumen Fight

Make it yours:

• 10 factory presets to explore, plus save and load your own
• Record your performances to keep or share
• Chord Mode, Perform Mode, and playful particle visuals throughout

Private by design:

• No ads, no accounts, no analytics, no tracking
• Everything runs on your device — nothing is collected or sent anywhere
• Works fully offline
