SCAAK is a non-governmental and non-profit organization, established in 2001 with the aim of implementing and promoting global standards and best practices for the new profession and assisting in economic development for the benefit of the public interest. Our story began with an idea, which became an institution that serves the needs of the economy and that has functioned to orient our country towards a new economy and fulfills the role of a modern professional accounting organization. In this way, SCAAK became the first professional organization to offer accounting and auditing education programs and the first association to be licensed by the Kosovo Financial Reporting Council (KKRF), which is the regulatory authority for financial reporting, accounting and auditing standards.
Today, SCAAK is an organization that offers high-standard education programs and represents around eight thousand professionals, who are engaged in various sectors, in key institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, such as the Office of the Prime Minister, Ministries, the Central Bank, the National Audit Office, Kosovo Customs, the Kosovo Tax Administration, Municipalities as well as businesses and audit firms.
Compliance with the regulations for the profession but also with local and international education and training standards developed by the Board for International Accounting Education Standards (BSNEK), have led SCAAK to be taken as a model for the development of professional organizations in developing countries.
The commitment of its members and governing bodies to the rigorous implementation of standards led to SCAAK becoming a full member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) in 2009, thus becoming the first Kosovar professional organization and one of the few in the Balkans to join IFAC, which is a global professional accounting and auditing organization that represents more than 175 member organizations in 130 countries around the world and supports the development and implementation of accounting, auditing and education standards and oversees the implementation of these standards by member organizations. SCAAK is also a full member of the European Federation of Accountants and Auditors for SMEs (EFAA) and the Mediterranean Federation of Accountants (FCM).
As a result of a successful collaboration between SCAAK and the National Audit Office (NAO), all officials of this institution have pursued and completed certification in accordance with the International Standards of Supreme Audit Institutions (ISSAI).
