About this app

The Schauburg app is free and contains no in-app purchases or advertisements. It is best to download the app in the WLAN. Individual functions (“Wie wars?”) require a stable internet connection after downloading, others (“Now you!” and “Excaliburg”) work offline. When using the app, no personal data is stored or used.

The Schauburg App is a digital offer from the theater for young audiences and offers children and young people the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of theater outside of going to the performance.
The app presents exciting new, target group-oriented games and functions. Not only augmented reality technology is used, but also multi-sensory control by touching, blowing, shaking or moving.

This is what the app offers:

Now you! - Face the challenge
Get a daily theater challenge to take part in with “Now You!” directly on your smartphone. Video messages from actors, challenges to the Schauburg plays and practical tasks from the lighting, sound or costume department. 365 challenges are waiting for you!

Excaliburg - Save a kingdom
Play two exciting augmented reality games in Neuperlach or the Borstei with "Excaliburg". Collect and interact with 3D objects and help find the missing characters from the play King A.

How was it? – Your perception counts
Share your impressions in "How was it?" after your visit to the theatre. Which theme was most important to you or which character are you most like? Answer these and other questions by shaking your smartphone, tilting the display or moving around in an augmented reality room.

It is in our interest to keep the app at a high artistic, content and technical level and to constantly improve it. Whether praise, criticism, technical problems, new ideas - feedback of any kind is therefore welcome. Write to us at: theater@schauburg.net

Who is the Schauburg?
The Schauburg is the theater for young audiences in the state capital of Munich. Under the directorship of Andrea Gronemeyer, the theater sees itself as an open house for the performing arts for young audiences and for those new to the art of theater. The audience can grow up in the Schauburg with theater, because the ensemble plays plays for the very youngest audience from 3 months and specifies its offers according to age up to adulthood.

New digital ways
The Schauburg app was created as part of "digital mediation", a Schauburg project funded by the German Federal Cultural Foundation. The Schauburg has been breaking new ground since 2021 with "digital mediation" and expanding the theater offering to include cultural mediation in digital space. With the Schauburg app, the theater offers young people low-threshold access to cultural topics and the opportunity to deal with theater content at any time in a playful way and on their own initiative.
