Chalka Teacher

About this app

Chalka Teacher is the app for the teaching part of the school day. You take the register, enter scores, build report cards and answer parents from the phone in your hand, instead of from a stack of paper on your desk.

Your school has to be using Chalka already. Ask your head teacher or proprietor before you download this.

THE REGISTER
Open your class, tap Mark all present, then change the few children who are not there. Every roll call is saved against the class and the date, so the office can answer a parent asking about last Tuesday without going through a paper book.

SCORES
Pick the term and the subject, then enter CA and exam marks for the whole class on one screen, side by side. The save button counts how many you have changed before you commit them, so you always know what you are about to write.

REPORT CARDS
Each child's report shows you what is still missing: the scores, your remark, and the trait ratings. When the whole class is complete you submit it for review in one action.

YOUR DAY
The app opens on your timetable with the current period marked, so you can see what you are teaching next. Under it are today's registers and where each of your classes stands.

PARENTS
Every message thread is about one child, so there is no group chat to manage and no personal number to hand out. School administrators can review messages, which protects you as much as it protects the parent.

THE SCHOOL CALENDAR AND NOTICES
Term dates, events, days with no school, and urgent notices from the office. Filter the calendar to the whole school or to your own classes. A notice reaches your phone instead of the bottom of a school bag.

Built for Nigerian K-12 schools, with the terms, the CA and exam split, and the report card format that schools here actually use.
