About this app

See how to dispose any waste item correctly. Simply scan the barcode, or search the item, to learn the correct bin to put your waste - according to your local disposal rules.

Scrapp takes an education-first approach, to help you be better equipped on disposing your waste correctly. So you can live guilt-free and feel confident that your efforts are having maximum impact.

Join our growing community today and discover how small habits can make a big impact!

** HOW DOES IT WORK? **

1. Scan or search a product on the shelf or at home.
2. Point your phone camera at the barcode - Scrapp instantly tells you how to dispose of it correctly by:

(a) Displaying simple instructions like “Recycle,” “Do Not Recycle,”, “Sort Packaging" or "Compost".
(b) A step-by-step guide that shows which bin each packaging part should go in.
(c) Motivational messages that make you feel like a recycling hero.

** LOCAL GUIDANCE FOR 400M+ PEOPLE **

Scrapp automatically saves your local recycling rules to give you the most accurate guidance. We currently provide location-based recycling guidance across 100% of the UK, US and Canada. Our internal team reviews frequently, but if there is ever something that awry, you can reach out to our team who will be happy to assist.

Good news - you can still use the app even if we don’t support local guidance in your area yet. You’ll see general advice that is correct for most places.

** TRACK YOUR IMPACT **

View a breakdown of waste you’ve disposed. Track progress towards your zero-waste goals and get actionable insights about your recycling efforts.

** FIGHT PLASTIC POLLUTION TOGETHER **

So far, Scrapp has been successfully used to divert over 10,000 items from ending up in landfill - and we’re just getting started.

Each time you use Scrapp to dispose of your waste the right way, you also remove ocean-bound plastic. For every item you scan or search, we’re making it possible for you to remove ocean-bound plastic - one bottle at a time.

** 36M+ PRODUCTS SO FAR **

We work directly with brands and retailers to use their data for good. But you can help others to dispose of your waste correctly too. Each time you submit new packaging information, it gets added to our library and shared with the rest of the community.

** DISCOVER SUSTAINABLE BRANDS **

Look out for the green verified tick next to brands in the app - it means the information you’re seeing comes straight from one of our verified brands.

We’re proud to be helping sustainable brands & retailers clear up confusing environmental claims and make more responsible products that have a positive impact on the planet.

Our mission is to educate and empower a global community towards a circular future. So we appreciate your patience as we work tirelessly towards this mission.

Great app, but all recycling information seems to be crowded sourced and there's not enough people on the app to provide data for all products. Every product I've scanned I've had to enter the information manually. The app does have a great interface and it's very easy to understand and use. But without the recycling data (The main part of the app) it's very difficult to find myself using the app often. My suggestion to the developers is to add some bulk data themselves.

not a bad start, still hard to edit items I scanned or undo things I disposed of on accident

App is in active development, practically beta. So far I've had to input the information of every product of mine manually, but at least it retains the info and keeps a nice history to make you feel better about saving the planet. There's no QR code support yet. The item search isn't operational yet. I can't find recycling centers for my local area (yet). The recycling guidance rules are pretty generic, but certain locales may have slightly different rules.
