More information about how Securify blocks scam sites on Android:
Securify uses Android's VpnService to run a local filter on your phone. It checks the domain names your device looks up against a list of known scam and phishing sites and blocks the dangerous ones before they load. It's not a VPN: there is no remote server, your traffic isn't routed anywhere, and your IP address doesn't change. Only DNS lookups pass through the filter; if one can't be checked on your device, just that domain name is sent to Securify's servers over an encrypted connection. You give permission before it turns on and can switch it off any time in Settings.
