Total Station Fix Logger records the exact moment of a total station observation, in both local time and UTC, for hydrographic survey sensor calibration work.
Press one large button at the instant the observation is taken. The time is locked immediately and cannot drift while you type in the reading. Local and UTC come from the same clock reading, so the two can never disagree.
THREE LOGGING MODES
You choose the mode when you create a project. It sets the input fields, the table and the export layout.
1. Bearing and Distance
Degree, minute, second and horizontal distance. A general purpose time-tagged observation log, suited to GNSS verification shots from known land control points and to sun observations by the hour-angle method, where what matters is a horizontal angle recorded against an exact UTC time. Distance may be left blank when it does not apply.
The app records and exports the observation. It does not compute solar azimuth or compare GNSS positions — that reduction happens in your own software.
2. Gyrocompass Calibration
The same angular fields, plus a Bow or Stern tag on every shot. Bow and stern observations are paired automatically on export, with both timestamps kept and the interval between them shown, so you can see whether the vessel moved between the two sights. Vessel heading is computed from each pair.
3. MRU Pitch and Roll Calibration
Easting, Northing and Elevation read straight off the total station, with a point tag: Port, Starboard, Fore, Aft, or your own label for reference marks such as CRP, MAST or a benchmark. Roll is derived from Port and Starboard pairs, pitch from Fore and Aft pairs.
BUILT FOR THE WAY CALIBRATIONS ARE ACTUALLY SHOT
The app follows a snake sequence, where each pair opens on the point the previous pair closed on, so the scope does not have to swing back across the full arc between pairs. It suggests the point it expects next and shows where you are in the sequence, but the suggestion can always be overridden. Pairing is done on the tags you actually saved, so changing the suggestion never affects the data.
Roll and pitch runs are tracked separately. Shooting a reference mark in the middle of a run does not disturb the sequence.
An incomplete pair at the end of a run is shown as in progress. Only a genuinely mis-tagged observation is flagged as an orphan, so the warning means something when it appears.
EXPORT
Plain ASCII, comma separated, ready for your processing software. Send it through the Android share sheet to email, third party app, cloud storage or a file manager, or save a copy to your Downloads folder.
Gyro and MRU exports include the raw observations, the paired rows, and a derived block containing heading, roll or pitch. The sign convention used is printed in the file header. Verify it against your own processing chain before applying any value as a mounting offset.
RELIABLE IN THE FIELD
Every fix is written to storage the moment you save it, so a crash or an accidental close costs nothing. The screen stays awake while a project is open. Any row can be corrected or deleted by long pressing it. Numeric fields accept both comma and dot as the decimal separator.
NO INTERNET PERMISSION
The app has no internet permission, no account, no analytics and no advertising. It is technically incapable of sending your data anywhere. Nothing leaves the device until you export a file yourself.
For anyone whose survey data forms part of a client deliverable, this is not a marketing claim. Check the permissions list.
FOR
Hydrographic surveyors, offshore construction surveyors, party chiefs and anyone running gyrocompass or motion sensor calibrations with a total station.
NOTE
This app records and reduces the total station side of a calibration. The derived heading, roll and pitch values are the geometry of the marked lines, not sensor mounting offsets. You still need the concurrent sensor log to complete the calibration.
