describeAT is a Mobile Assistive-Technology app that allows users to easily access Audio Description.
With the visually impaired in mind, describeAT creates an accessible environment where users can enjoy descriptions of mainstream media content, in a variety of categories.
Movies, TV-shows, Podcasts, Tours and Educational content are all currently hosted on the describeAT App, but we're constantly thinking of new ways to expand on our accessibility ecosystem.
Watching something on TV and think its Description may be on the describeAT app? If the title is on the describeAT database, use our Listen function to synchronize it's Description to what's playing in front of you, whether it's a TV, a cinema setting, or on another external device, describeAT will listen to match the available track so you don't have to ask someone to find it or describe what you're viewing.
Who are we?
ShazaCin Accessible Media is an innovative young South African based company operating in the assistive-technology space, making visual content accessible to visually impaired persons through audio description.
We are the first organization to specialize in Audio Description in Africa. Working with local talent on local content, we provide audio description in English and local languages to the audio visual industry. Our team comprises of a diverse mix of individuals who are involved in the creation, delivery and verification process.
What is Audio Description?
Audio description is the skillful use of words to describe whatever can be seen to persons who cannot see, aligned with international standards. It is also important for those who cannot focus on visuals for other reasons.
Audio Description enables the full understanding and enjoyment of visual media. It is globally recognized as an access tool and art form.
What do we do?
ShazaCin provides a 360° Solution from development to delivery. We create Audio Description scripts and tracks for all visual content and deliver this through the ShazaCin App. This includes films, broadcasts, commercials, training programs, illustrated books and logos. We also audio describe tours for art galleries, museums and heritage sites, and describe live events in real time such as theatre, concerts and sports.
