About SHIKSHA Initiative:
SHIKSHA Initiative is an accelerated technology-enabled literacy and enhanced learning program by the Shiv Nadar Foundation. The initiative started in 2012 and focuses on creating literacy for empowered and inclusive society. There are two flagship programs under the Shiksha Initiative. The Shiksha Elementary program, which focuses on enchaining education standard in rural elementary schools and Shiksha Plus Program, which focuses on adult literacy in rural India. It has devised a unique approach to drive adult literacy initiatives under a speared program – SHIKSHA Plus. This uses an ICT-based methodology to teach the fundamentals of reading, writing, and arithmetic skills to illiterate adults who have not attended a formal school. The target group for the program is anyone who may have missed the opportunity of formal education, particularly individuals above 15 years of age.
