ShotSeek makes the words inside your pictures searchable. Type a word you remember - a name, a code, a price, a street - and it shows you the screenshots, receipts, notes and photos with that word printed in them. All of it happens on your phone.

Offline, and nothing uploaded

Offline screenshot search is the whole point of this app. Your pictures are read on your phone, by your phone. No account, no sign-up, no server. Nothing leaves the device, so a local image search still works on a plane, on the metro, or with mobile data switched off.

Common questions

Does it work without internet? Yes. Text recognition runs on the device, always.

Do I have to wait before I can search? No. You can search text in photos while the rest are still being prepared, and recent pictures are ready first.

Can it find text in screenshots I saved last year? Yes, once they have been prepared, as long as the words are printed and readable.

Can I search my gallery by text when a picture is not in the screenshots folder? Yes. ShotSeek works as a photo text finder across every folder you have given it access to.

Does it upload my pictures? No. Nothing is uploaded, at any point.

What if I only allow some photos? Then the search covers those photos. You can change that choice whenever you like.

What ShotSeek does not do

Saying this plainly will save some of you a download:

• It reads printed words. It does not recognise objects, faces or scenes, so searching for "white car" will not find one
• It reads the Latin alphabet. Arabic, Cyrillic, Chinese, Japanese and Korean are not supported yet
• It does not scan with the camera, edit pictures, translate, or read text aloud
• It has no cloud backup and no sync between devices
• It cannot see photos you have not granted access to

People who screenshot things instead of writing them down, and anyone who photographs receipts, tickets, labels, whiteboards and door codes and then has to find them again later.
