About this app

Model Makeover Log, a dedicated application for scale modelers to document, track, and reflect on their building journey. Whether constructing aircraft, ships, or armor, this app provides a comprehensive system for managing projects, visualizing progress over time, and cataloging materials, all within a clean and organized interface.

The journey begins at the Dashboard, which offers an immediate snapshot of the modeler's activity. Key metrics are displayed prominently: 3 Total projects, with 2 Active builds in progress and 1 Completed piece. A Completion Rate of 33% provides motivation and a sense of overall progress. The Recent Projects section previews the modeler's current and past work, including the USS Enterprise CV-6 (1:700 scale, in progress since January 2025), the Spitfire Mk.IX (1:48, in progress since July 2024), and the completed Tiger I Heavy Tank (1:35, finished in March 2024 after four months of work).

The My Projects view organizes all builds into a simple, filterable list. Tabs allow the user to view All projects or narrow down by status—In Progress or Completed. Each entry displays the project name, scale, duration, and start date. The USS Enterprise and Spitfire are clearly marked as ongoing, while the Tiger I is denoted with a Completed badge, making it easy to distinguish between active builds and finished works at a glance.

The Timeline section provides a narrative, chronological view of the modeler's journey. Projects are grouped by year, with each entry including the scale, date range, duration, and current status. More importantly, this section captures the modeler's personal notes and reflections. For the USS Enterprise, the user notes: "Midway 1942 configuration. Rigging is a challenge at this scale. Need to add more aircraft on deck." The Spitfire Mk.IX entry describes a "RAF Desert Air Force scheme. Working on panel line shading. Engine cowl mask cut is tricky." The completed Tiger I includes a reflection on techniques used: "Winter camouflage scheme with extensive weathering. Salt chipping method used for paint wear effects. Very happy with the mud stre..." This timeline transforms the app from a simple log into a personal building diary.

Finally, the Resources section serves as a material catalog and knowledge base. It displays an overview of 3 Projects and 12 Materials tracked. The catalog lists specific items like Tamiya primer, Vallejo acrylics, AK Interactive washes, and even techniques like the hairspray technique, each tagged with its usage count (each used in 1 project). This feature allows modelers to track which materials they own, which techniques they've employed, and how frequently they're used across different builds. Persistent navigation across the bottom of every screen—linking to Dashboard, Projects, Timeline, and Resources—ensures seamless movement throughout the application, making the Model Makeover Log an indispensable companion for any scale modeler seeking to document their craft and improve their skills over time.
