When an earthquake strikes, you don't have a second to lose.

Earthquake Happening is an early warning network that tries to alert you before the tremor reaches you. As soon as the epicenter is detected, a notification will appear on your phone, and a countdown will begin on the screen showing how many seconds are left until the destructive S-wave hits.

No account required, no ads, no payment.

WHY THIS APP?
▪ No account — no email, phone number, or password required. You use it anonymously.
▪ Ad-free and completely free. No in-app purchases or subscriptions.
▪ No background location tracking. Location is only used while the app is open; if you don't give permission, the app will still work.
▪ You set your notification threshold. If you don't want to see anything below M4.0, you won't see anything at all — your phone won't vibrate all day.

HOW EARLY WARNING WORKS
Earthquake waves travel at different speeds: the fast but harmless P-wave arrives before the destructive S-wave. The server uses this difference to calculate the time remaining based on your distance from the epicenter and displays it second by second on the alert screen. The more distance you have, the more time you gain.

Also, if your phone's accelerometer detects a tremor, the measurement is shared anonymously. If multiple devices in the same area report a tremor simultaneously, the event is verified — this prevents a single phone falling off a table from unnecessarily scaring everyone.

WHAT'S IN THE APP

▪ Statistics — magnitude, depth and source distribution for the last 24 hours
▪ Safety guide — Drop-Cover-Hold on, earthquake kit contents, assembly areas, earthquake while in a vehicle, first aid
▪ Emergency numbers — AFAD 122, 112, fire department 110, call with one touch
▪ Dark theme — eye-friendly when viewing at night
▪ Erase My Data — deletes device registration, location and preferences from both phone and server

DATA SOURCES
Kandilli Observatory (KOERI), EMSC and USGS. The earthquake list is compiled from these three sources; early warning is fed by EMSC's real-time stream.

IMPORTANT
This application is not an official disaster warning system and does not replace warnings from AFAD and Kandilli. Receiving a notification depends on internet connection, notification permission, device status, and third-party data sources; warnings may not be received for every tremor. The absence of a warning does not mean there has been no earthquake. Always make safety decisions based on the instructions issued by official institutions.
