Sign Call is an inclusive education initiative by Ashray Akruti that aims to integrate Indian Sign Language (ISL) into mainstream and special education systems to support hearing-impaired students. The project focuses on deploying trained ISL interpreters in schools to ensure effective communication and active participation of students in both academic and social settings. Additionally, it includes ISL training for teachers, non-teaching staff, and support personnel to foster a more inclusive and understanding learning environment.
Beyond schools, Sign Call extends its efforts to higher education by offering sensitization and ISL training to professors in government universities. The initiative also promotes standardized ISL training for students to reduce regional disparities in sign usage. To drive systemic change, Ashray Akruti plans to conduct workshops for school leadership and government departments, advocating for policies that support ISL integration. Through this multi-stakeholder approach, Sign Call strives to build a more inclusive education system where hearing-impaired students can learn, grow, and thrive equally.
