Delete has always been a lie. A deleted file lives on in the cloud, in the backup, on the old laptop, in the sync folder of everyone you ever sent it to. BurnKey fixes the problem at the root: a file you protect is encrypted before it goes anywhere, with a key that exists only in your vault. When you destroy it, BurnKey erases that key and every copy of the file, everywhere, becomes permanent noise.
WHAT IT DOES
- Protect any file: PDF, photo, contract, export. It is encrypted on the spot with AES-256-GCM using a key made for that file alone.
- Reveal it whenever you need it. Decryption happens on your phone and the readable copy is removed the moment you are done.
- Destroy it for good. Press and hold, never a tap. BurnKey erases the file's key and signs a receipt of destruction: what was destroyed, when, the fingerprint of the exact ciphertext, and the signing device. The method is NIST SP 800-88 cryptographic erase.
- Verify a receipt anywhere. Paste any BurnKey receipt and check it without a vault, an account or a network connection.
- Keep a tamper evident log. Every destruction links to the one before it, so nothing can be quietly removed from the record.
WHY IT IS DIFFERENT
Enterprise rights management can revoke files that have left, but it costs enterprise money, needs an IT rollout, and the vendor holds a spare key that can be subpoenaed. BurnKey gives you the same power at consumer price with nobody holding a spare key. Not us, not a cloud, not a court order.
NOTHING LEAVES YOUR PHONE
No account. No sync. No analytics. Your passphrase is never stored. The only network traffic is Google Play billing for the optional Plus subscription.
BURNKEY PLUS (optional)
Free holds three protected files at a time. Plus lifts the cap and adds conditional destruction: a timed trigger that erases a file's key on a date you set, and a silence trigger that fires if you stop opening the vault. Plus also exports the destruction log for an auditor. The cryptography, the receipts and destroy itself are free for everyone.
HONEST LIMITS
A receipt is a signed statement that the key was erased. It cannot prove nobody copied the key before that; no product can. Protecting a file does not delete the original where you picked it from. Lose your passphrase and the vault is gone, there is no reset.
