Anyone can delete a blurry photo. Choosing the best of ten good ones is the hard part — and that's what Shot Away does.
One-time purchase. No subscription, no ads, no account.
Ten shots of the same sunset, a burst of fifty frames of your kid, near-identical photos after every trip — all of them sharp, all of them fine, and only one worth keeping. Shot Away is a photo cleaner that finds these series on its own, compares the frames side by side and picks the best one. The rest it suggests deleting to free up space on your phone.
HOW IT CHOOSES THE BEST SHOT
• Groups similar photos — burst shots and simply lookalike frames — by day and by place
• Compares every frame in a series on what is hard to spot at a glance: fine sharpness and slight shake, exposure, colour, composition, faces and open eyes
• Keeps the shot that wins and marks the rest for deletion — not only blurry and dark frames, but also good shots that simply have a better twin
• Unlike swipe-to-delete apps, you don't compare photos one by one: Shot Away has already picked
• Shows how much storage you will free before anything is deleted
• Results appear while the scan is still running — start sorting the first days while the rest is being checked
YOU STAY IN CONTROL
Shot Away only suggests. You review each day, keep or remove any photo with one tap, and confirm deletion in the standard Android dialog. It never suggests deleting a photo that has no better version in the same series.
PRIVATE, ON YOUR PHONE
Photos are analysed on the device and never leave it. No cloud, no account. The app sends anonymous usage statistics — how many photos were scanned, how long it took, which screens were opened — never the contents of your photos or where they were taken. In the EU and the UK you are asked first.
FREE AND PRO
Free: full scan and analysis, the storage estimate, selecting all recommended shots in one tap, and the first 100 photos to delete and 100 to rename.
Pro — a one-time purchase, no subscription: unlimited deletion and renaming, your own scoring criteria, place names taken from neighbouring shots, camera clock offset detection.
ALSO IN THE APP
• Rename photos by date and place: IMG_20240612_143255.jpg becomes 2024-06-12_Italy_Rome_143255.jpg. Country and city come from the photo's GPS data via a built-in offline table of 69,000 cities.
• Fix capture dates that shifted when photos were copied from another phone or received in messengers — the date is recovered even from file names like IMG-20240612-WA0001.jpg. Free and unlimited.
• Optional search for exact duplicate photos.
• Scan the whole gallery or a single folder.
