About this app

Lost the remote? Too many remotes on the table? Simple IR turns the remotes you already own into one simple remote on your phone, for your TV, aircon, fan, lights, sound bar, projector, set-top box, karaoke player and anything else with an IR remote.

COPY YOUR REMOTE
• Snap a photo of your remote: Simple IR finds every button and lays them out for you, right on your phone, with no upload.
• Copy each button by pressing it on your old remote while a USB IR receiver listens.
• Find by brand: pick your device's brand and model from a built-in library of over 11,000 ready-made remotes.
• No luck? Find the code: Simple IR sends codes one by one until your device reacts.
• Or type a code you already know.

A REMOTE THAT FEELS REAL
• Big, clear buttons laid out like a real handset, with a light flash and a tick every time a signal goes out.
• Switches for on/off, and knobs you turn with your finger for volume or fan speed.
• Colours, shapes, icons, labels, pictures and even animated GIFs, so every remote looks the way you like.
• As many remotes as you need: swipe between them and put them in your own order.

KARAOKE REMOTE OVER WI-FI
Some karaoke players are controlled over Wi-Fi instead of infrared. Simple IR includes a ready-made karaoke remote for players on your home network:
• Finds the player on your Wi-Fi by itself, or type its address.
• Number pad, reserve, priority, play now, skip, key, tempo, volume, vocal, melody and more, all on one screen.
• Search and browse the player's song list by title, artist or first letter, keep favourites, and see the songs you have sung.
• Live lyrics, word by word, in time with the song.
• See and manage the song queue.
• Floating remote: a small bubble stays on top of other apps, so you can reserve a song while you chat or browse. Tap it to open the remote, drag it away to close it.
• Guests' phones: show a QR code and friends on the same Wi-Fi, iPhones included, open the remote in their browser to search, reserve songs and read lyrics. Nothing to install, and it works only on your local network.
Like every remote in Simple IR, the karaoke remote can be fully rearranged and restyled.

QUICK SETTINGS TILES
Pin up to four buttons, like Power, to your phone's Quick Settings panel and press them without opening the app. The tiles follow the remote you are using.

EXPLORE SHARED REMOTES
Browse remotes other people have built, filter by TV, aircon, fan, lights, karaoke and more, and use any of them with one tap. Sign in with Google to like remotes and share your own. Browsing and using remotes never needs an account.

WHAT YOU NEED
Infrared remotes need a phone with an IR blaster (found on many Xiaomi, Redmi, POCO, Huawei, Honor, vivo and other phones) or a plug-in USB-C IR blaster. Simple IR tells you on the first screen whether your phone can send. Copying a button from your old remote needs a USB IR receiver; the same USB-C dongle can both send and copy. The Wi-Fi karaoke remote needs no IR hardware, only a compatible player on the same Wi-Fi network.

PERMISSIONS, EXPLAINED
• Display over other apps: only for the floating karaoke bubble, and only if you turn it on.
• Notifications: shows that the floating remote or guest hosting is running, with a Stop button.
• Run in the background: optional, so guests' phones stay connected while your screen is off. You can stop hosting at any time.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Your remotes stay on your phone. Photos are read on the phone and never uploaded. The karaoke remote and the guest page talk only to devices on your own Wi-Fi. Only the remotes you choose to share are made public, without your pictures.
Copy your IR remotes to your phone, plus a Wi-Fi karaoke remote with lyrics.
