About this app

The School Information System (SIS) is a national digital platform developed by the Government of Tanzania through TAMISEMI. It is designed to strengthen data management, streamline school operations, and support informed decision-making at school, council, and national levels. SIS empowers educators, school leaders, and policymakers with tools to improve service delivery and ensure quality education for every child.

SIS provides an intuitive interface for registering and managing student records, including personal details and enrollment history. Schools can also track both student and teacher attendance daily, promoting accountability and improving class participation. Built-in tools for behavioral assessments help monitor student discipline and support their positive personal development.

The system enables continuous monitoring of academic performance through Continuous Assessment modules, allowing teachers to record, analyze, and track student progress. Student Promotions are automated and based on performance and defined criteria, streamlining grade transitions.

Additionally, SIS includes a robust Inventory Management module that helps schools oversee essential resources such as books, infrastructure, furniture, and equipment. The School Profile section ensures up-to-date management of institution details, contact information, and key data used for planning and inspections.

To support holistic learning and inclusion, SIS also manages Supplementary Services such as AEP, DEWS, and NET programs, as well as tracking Out-of-School Children (OOSC). This ensures no learner is left behind and that alternative education pathways are available. The School Feeding Program is integrated to help schools manage and report on meals provided to learners—supporting health, attendance, and concentration in the classroom.

SIS works online and offline, making it reliable even in remote or low-connectivity areas. By digitizing daily school activities and data collection processes, SIS enhances transparency, planning, and efficiency throughout Tanzania’s education system.
