About this app

TabiTots — vetted, verified places to spend a few hours with your kids in Japan, or hand them off for a few hours to yourself.

Travelling in Japan with kids? Some experiences just aren't for small children — a multi-course omakase, an onsen, a movie in a theatre. Other times you'd rather be in the room. TabiTots lets you book time with a vetted local provider — a real school, kindergarten, preschool, licensed childcare program, or activity studio — and choose how close you stay: drop off, stay and watch, or join in yourself. Your child gets a genuine Japan experience with local kids, on your terms.

Built by an ex-Google engineer and a UX designer — a couple raising our own child in Japan, building the app we wished existed.

REAL PLACES, REALLY VETTED
Every provider is a registered school or facility with certified staff and ratios set by Japanese authorities — the same places local families use, now bookable by the visit. Before a provider can take a single booking, we check entity registration, an independent third-party document (inspection, accreditation, or liability insurance), and a signed safety declaration.

MORE THAN A DROP-OFF
Many partners run real programs — abacus, karate, ballet, piano — alongside English-medium preschool and afterschool care, a full international-school day, seasonal camps, and simple supervised free play. Some lead in English, many run in Japanese alongside local kids — either way, children settle in fast, often within the first morning.

• Every parent and pickup carer is identity-verified — government ID plus a live selfie — before a booking goes live.
• At pickup, staff match the carer against their verified photo before handing your child over.

BOOKING THAT FITS A TRIP
• Browse by city, date, and your child's age — real availability, day by day.
• Book one day or any mix of days, with times set per day.
• Join a waitlist when a day is full.
• Pay the provider's published rate by card — one all-in price, no booking fee from TabiTots.
• Free cancellation up to each provider's cutoff — at least 24 hours before drop-off.

BUILT FOR FAMILIES
• Add every child, with shared emergency contacts and per-child health details (allergies, vaccinations, and more) so staff know what they need before the day starts.
• Invite a verified carer — a partner, grandparent, or trusted friend — for drop-off or pickup.
• Instant notifications at drop-off and pickup, with the exact handover time.
• Message our team in-app anytime for questions, changes, or anything urgent.
