About this app

Press a keycap on screen and hear a real mechanical keyboard. The cap sinks, your phone taps back, and the sound lands — a toy you play with your ears.

This is a keycap, not a keyboard. Build small clusters — one cap, or two, four, nine, sixteen — the way keycap keyrings and desk accessories actually come.

■ Who it's for
· Anyone who loves typing sounds and keyboard ASMR
· People stuck somewhere they can't actually type — a meeting room, a library, a quiet office
· Keycap keyring collectors and custom keyboard fans
· Anyone winding down with calm background noise before sleep
· Restless hands that need something to press (a fidget toy that isn't silent)

■ 1. Twenty typing sounds
Each sound was sampled from a different physical keyboard and analysed acoustically. Names describe the **measured timbre**, never a trademark — low centre frequencies are a "Thock", and as they climb you get "Clack" and "Click", while long decays become a "Ring" or a "Tail". Deep Resonance sits at 2382 Hz with a 29.3 ms decay; Dry Tail rings out the longest at 38.7 ms; Firm Click is short and sharp at 8198 Hz and 9.4 ms. The collection screen plots the full frequency response for every one.

■ 2. Twenty-three keycap sets — two-tone, plus novelty silhouettes
PBT Beige, Charcoal, Paper White, Deep Teal, Dusk, Clay, Moss, Honey, Rose, Frost, Smoke, Graphite, Coral, Mint, Lavender, Sky, Bubblegum, Lime, Tangerine, Ice. Matte, glossy and translucent finishes, with centred, front-printed or blank legends. Every cluster gets one "hero cap" in its own colour, so a set reads as base + accent the way a real keycap set does, and the housing colour follows the caps.
Three pastel sets go further and drop the square: Cream Cat, Peach Cat and Grape Cat. Cat-ear, heart, cloud and star caps sit in one tray in five pastel colours, and the case turns into translucent acrylic — the keycap keyring toy, moved onto the screen.

■ 3. Five clusters — 1, 2, 4, 9 and 16 caps
The fewer the caps, the bigger each one gets: a single cap fills the screen, sixteen sit in a 4×4 grid. The hero cap isn't just a different colour — it plays its own stabiliser-weighted sample, the way a big key does on a real board.

■ 4. Two thousand three hundred builds
20 sounds × 23 caps × 5 clusters = 2,300 combinations. In the Craft tab you pick all three axes, watch the preview update, then commit with "Make this combo" — the board itself stays untouched while you experiment. The dice button picks one at random.

■ 5. A collection and 29 badges
Every build you commit is filed in your collection. Twenty-nine badges track total presses, your longest unbroken run, your daily streak, and full sweeps of each axis, so there is always a next target within reach. Play at 3 a.m. and you earn Night Owl; play at dawn and you earn Early Bird.

■ 6. Tune it
Independent control over volume, haptic strength (off, light, medium, strong) and the softer key-up sound. Repeat a key and the app rotates through alternate samples with slight pitch jitter, so it never sounds like one recording on loop. Light and dark themes, English and Korean, and your whole collection can be exported to a file and restored later.

■ Light and safe
· This is not a keyboard app. It never replaces your system keyboard and cannot see anything you type
· No account, no sign-in
· Works fully offline
· Asks for exactly one permission: vibration
· Every sound was measured and processed from CC0-licensed source audio

Go press a keycap.

What’s new

• Redrew the keycap keyring tray — thinner frame and rounder well corners, like the real thing
• Re-measured every well position so caps sit exactly in place
• Fixed caps showing through the tray while pressed
• Moved legends to the true center of the keycap top (clearer on the numpad)
• Brand new app icon: a chunky keycap keyring on deep teal
