SkyQuest is a calm star map and stargazing guide. Hold your phone up and see what is actually above you: planets, bright stars, constellations, star clusters, nebulae and galaxies, the Moon and the space stations. No account, no clutter, and the core app works without a connection.
WHAT YOU GET
• A live sky map that follows your phone, with all 88 constellations, named in your language
• Clusters, nebulae and galaxies: the Pleiades, the Orion Nebula, the Andromeda Galaxy and more, each with a short story
• Tonight: what is worth looking at, when it gets dark, what rises soon, and what is coming up (eclipses, meteor showers, supermoons, planets meeting)
• Moon phases: phase, rise and set times, and a phase calendar
• Space stations: visible-pass times for the ISS, Tiangong and Hubble, drawn on the sky and with a reminder before the ISS passes
• Find it: pick any planet, star or constellation and follow the arrow to it
• Align: if your phone's compass is off, point at a star or planet and tap once to correct it
• Object pages that teach: how far away it is, when its light set off, and what to look for
• Discover: a collection of what you have really seen (it only counts when you point your phone at it in a dark sky), with achievements
• A home-screen widget with the Moon and tonight's headline
• An optional reminder at dusk on nights when something is worth seeing
• Night mode: red on black, to keep your eyes dark-adapted
PRIVATE AND OFFLINE
The sky is calculated on your phone, so the core app works without a connection. There is no account and nothing is sent to us. Your exact location and your collection stay on your phone (the collection is also part of your own device backup). The app downloads a small public orbit file for the satellites, at most once a day. Only if you turn it on, a place rounded to about 10 km is sent to MET Norway for the cloud forecast. Ads are provided by Google AdMob; see the privacy policy.
ONE PAYMENT, NO SUBSCRIPTION
SkyQuest shows a small banner ad on some screens, never in night mode. A single one-time purchase, SkyQuest Pro, removes every ad for good and adds: alerts for every bright satellite, reminders for eclipses and meteor showers, time travel (see the sky and Tonight at another time, from 1800 to 2050) and the full Messier catalogue. Everything else is free either way.
Available in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian and Brazilian Portuguese.
