This isn’t the same old story. The Poe Ai Story Creator app lets you connect with Poe, the Ai Story Bear, to create and listen to amazing original stories, with help from YOU and kid-safe cutting edge A.I. technology.

Select a few simple ideas, in the form of predefined family friendly icons, then listen as Poe transforms them into rich, thoughtfully crafted adventures. Select a bunch of ideas or no ideas at all. Create a medieval adventure, an epic sci-fi story, an enchanting fairytale, or an intriguing mystery. Whatever ideas you choose, Poe magically makes up all the missing pieces to bring your story to life.

Save and rate your story masterpieces! Every story you create can be saved and organized in the app’s story library, to be played again whenever you’d like, as many times as you like. Have Poe tell the story, or just listen directly on your device. You can even read along on your device as Poe tells the story.

Good idea, bad execution. App is useless and confusing. Stories are short (2/3 minutes) and shallow. No substance to them. No real storyline. It's like reading out a recipe. Bear also speaks too quickly. Young children (under 4) have a slow processing speed, the bear needs to speak slower to help toddlers understand and to promote relaxation. Hate the always on bright green and blue lights on the ears. Not relaxing in the dark. My 3 year old isn't interested.

Doesn't work at all on my Pixel 6 Pro or kid's android tablet. On my Pixel the app just crashes every time you open the app and give it permissions it asks for. Very glitchy. On the tablet you get passed the permissions but the bear won't connect via Bluetooth. There are two devices that pop up and only the audio device connects which doesn't register in the app. Cool concept but the software bugs have killed it

Stories are created by selecting static, predefined buttons (genre, characters, items, plot devices, and settings). It seems that a traditional computer program could have easily cobbled together these elements and outputted a story without any AI. Not leveraging LLM chat functionality or ability to generate a truly personalized story based on the user's text input really diminishes the potential of AI as a collaborative creative writing tool. The lip synch of the bear was pretty awful too.
