About this app

Nightcap powers off your phone automatically at any time you schedule, WITHOUT ROOT.

Not a screen dimmer or a Do Not Disturb toggle you can swipe away in a second, but A REAL SHUTDOWN, the same one you get from holding the power button and tapping Power off.

WHAT YOU CAN DO
• Schedule a cutoff at any time, repeating on the weekdays you pick or as a one-off on a chosen date.
• Get a heads-up notification before it fires (10 minutes ahead, optional per cutoff).
• A live countdown with a Cancel button, so you can back out if you really need to.
• Switch on Uninterruptible mode for the nights you know you'll try to talk yourself out of it.
• Look back over the full history of every cutoff and how it ended.

WHY DO THAT?
Friction. If the only way to keep scrolling past the time you set is to physically switch the phone back on, most of the time you just won't. Use it for focus blocks, study sessions, the gym, no-phone dinners, screen-free weekend mornings, or bedtime. Any time you want the phone genuinely out of reach, you pick a time and it's gone.

HOW IT WORKS
Android only lets system apps trigger a shutdown, so Nightcap leans on Shizuku, a free helper app, to run the phone's own power-off command at ADB level. No root needed. You set Shizuku up once and it handles the rest from there. The in-app Setup Guide walks you through it.

WORKS ON MOST PHONES
Every brand fights background apps a little differently, so Nightcap includes troubleshooting made for Samsung, Xiaomi, Redmi, POCO, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Vivo, iQOO, Huawei, Honor, Motorola, Nothing, ASUS, Sony and Pixel, with a general fallback for the rest. The "Cutoffs not working?" page spots your phone and sends you straight to the autostart and battery settings it needs, with one-tap shortcuts.

PRIVACY
I don't collect, store, or share anything about you. No analytics, no ads, no trackers, no accounts, and no server of mine for your data to land on. The only time the app touches the internet is for the optional Pro purchase through Google Play, which Google handles, not me. Your cutoffs and history stay on your phone.

BEFORE YOU INSTALL
• You need Android 8.0 or newer.
• You need Shizuku installed and running. The detailed Setup Guide inside the covers both the official Shizuku and the other forks.

A FEW HONEST LIMITS
• Nightcap can't switch the phone back on for you. Android dropped scheduled power-on years ago, so you press the power button yourself when you want to use it again.
• A phone that's off can't ring an alarm. If you count on phone alarms during the off window, set the cutoff for after they go off, or keep a separate alarm clock.
