Brief description of the project activities:
During the nesting season, when turtles lay eggs (May – July), and the hatching season (July – September), project participants work directly on the beach to protect sea turtles. Their activities include building protective fences against dogs, patrolling the beach, collecting lost turtles, driving away predators, monitoring the hatching process, and guiding hatchlings safely to the sea.
During the off-season (October – May), participants focus on educational activities. They organize theater performances for elementary school students and lectures for high school students. Regular beach cleanups are a key off-season activity, ensuring that by the start of the nesting season the beach is ready to host turtles and that preparation does not require excessive time or resources.
