About this app

SmishAlert checks suspicious text messages and tells you what you are looking at.

You send a message to SmishAlert, and you get a verdict back with the reasoning behind it. Nothing reaches SmishAlert unless you report it.

HOW IT WORKS

Share from your messaging app. Tap share on a suspicious text and pick SmishAlert.
Paste the text. Copy a message and paste it straight into the app.
Send a screenshot. Report from your gallery or the share sheet.
Check a link or QR code. Point your camera at a code someone asked you to scan.

Every report you make is kept in Alerts with its verdict and history, so you can look back at what you have seen.

WHAT SMISHALERT DOES NOT DO ON ANDROID

SmishAlert does not read, filter, or block your text messages on Android. There is no background scanning of your inbox. A message reaches SmishAlert only when you send it, which is why the app requests no SMS permissions at all.

PRACTICE INBOX

Practice is where you get better at spotting scams without any risk. About once a month a simulated message arrives in a separate Practice tab, clearly labeled as practice, with links that go nowhere. You triage it the way you would a real one, then see what the tells were. You can turn practice messages off at any time in Settings.

FOR TEAMS

Organizations use SmishAlert to give their people one place to send a suspicious message. If your employer deployed SmishAlert, sign in and your reports flow into your security team's view while your administrator manages the settings. Ask your IT team for an invite code.

PRIVACY

SmishAlert sees the messages you choose to report, and nothing else. Reports are encrypted in transit. You can delete your account and your data from inside the app, in Settings.

Text message scams, often called smishing, are now the most common way people get phished, and most of them work because they land while someone is busy. SmishAlert gives you somewhere to check before you tap.
