SMS2VPS is a secure Android app that synchronizes your incoming SMS messages to your chosen destination: a self-hosted VPS server, Google Drive, or Gmail account. All synchronization occurs only after you manually configure and activate it in the app settings.

SMS2VPS must be set as your device's default messaging app to access SMS data. This is an Android OS security requirement - only the default SMS app can read or send messages.

Important notes:
- You can switch back to your previous SMS app at any time
- Changing default apps does not transfer existing message history
- Your previous messages remain in your original messaging app
- Only new messages received after activation will be synchronized
