About this app

Android 9 brought a lot of new features to our devices but in the same time, it brought an annoying drawback: The volume buttons control the media volume all the time and we have to perform multiple steps to change the ringtone and notification volume.

There is now a fix to this problem and it is called Volfix.

When Volfix is enabled, the volume buttons of your device will control the ringtone and notification volume by default. It will control the media volume while you are listening to any kind of sounds and it will control the "in call" volume while there is an ongoing call.

Volfix requires to be enabled as an accessibility service in order to listen for volume button press events and to map the buttons to control the ring and notification volume instead of media volume.

Please note that at the moment Volfix only works while the screen is on.

Genuinely amazing and insanely helpful app. I posted a review here a while ago about an issue but that is gone now because I had two key binding apps running. Nothing wrong with the app. This app is flawless and I really can't believe who on the Android dev team thought it would be a good idea to remove the option of what the volume buttons do. Thank you for this app!

After my phone updated I could no longer control ring volume by default with the buttons and the option to turn off "control media volume" in settings is no longer available at all. Also the multi volume sliders that should show up when using the buttons doesn't work either even though the option in settings is still there. Go figure nearly every update brings another problem. This solved that and as a bonus this app doesn't collect any information nor does it have pop ups or ads.
