Soitilo is a piano app for kids who are starting from their very first notes. Your child learns piano basics in small steps and plays familiar songs: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Are You Sleeping? and Hot Cross Buns.
Children can play on a phone or tablet screen, a MIDI keyboard or a real piano. Soitilo is for children from about age 4, with a focus on ages 6–8. Adult beginners can learn too. An adult creates the account and adds each learner.
THREE WAYS TO PLAY
• On screen: your child plays the keys on a phone or tablet. A piano is not needed to get started.
• Keyboard: connect a MIDI keyboard with a USB cable or over Bluetooth, on a device that supports MIDI.
• Real piano: the app hears an acoustic or digital piano through the microphone. Sound is processed only on the device. It is never recorded or sent anywhere.
SMALL STEPS, TIME TO PRACTICE
The learning path begins with a short chapter on the very basics. A child who already knows them can move through it quickly. Chapters follow the seasons: spring, summer, fall and winter.
Your child works on one new thing at a time: finding notes on the keyboard, keeping a steady beat, hearing whether a note goes up or down, reading music and playing songs. The path introduces white keys, then black keys and sharps and flats, followed by 3/4 time and the left hand.
Every playing task starts with Practice at your child's own pace. The accompaniment waits. Then Play brings the task together with the accompaniment. Hints appear when your child gets stuck, and short music games sit between songs. Music Grouse gives instructions in speech bubbles that the device can read aloud.
SONGS AND THEIR OWN IDEAS
The song library has shelves for children's songs, folk songs and classical music, with three stars per song. Optional hymn collections are available too. Song paths offer different songs for practicing the same skills. Each learner has an English or Finnish songbook. In My melody, your child makes up a tune of their own, and free play is there for trying out ideas.
PROGRESS YOU CAN UNDERSTAND
Each learner has their own profile, language and presentation style: listening, reading or compact. Behind your adult code, see skills by name, whether your child played on their own or with support, and a tip when they are stuck. There are no practice-minute totals, streaks or sibling comparisons.
Invite a second adult or share your child's progress with their piano teacher, who can view it in a web browser. Once the account exists, practice works offline. Data syncs between your family's devices when the connection returns.
FREE BASICS, OPTIONAL SUBSCRIPTION
The basics and Chapter 1, with their songs, stay free, with up to 3 learner profiles. Also free: the free library songs, My melody, free play, all three ways to play, help and hints, a second adult and sharing progress with a teacher.
A family subscription for up to 10 learners or a personal subscription for 1 learner opens the rest of the path and the whole song library. Choose monthly or yearly billing. A 14-day trial is available to eligible subscribers. After the trial, the subscription renews automatically unless canceled. Google Play shows the price and terms before you subscribe. Manage or cancel your subscription in Google Play.
If a subscription ends, nothing is deleted. Skills and progress stay, and finished songs, library songs with a star and your child's own melodies stay playable. Paid content not yet started locks, and the path picks up where it stopped when you subscribe again.
PRIVACY AND ADULT CONTROL
No ads, analytics or tracking SDKs. Google Play purchases use Google's billing library, which logs its billing calls. Children's profiles have no email address. You can export or delete your family's data in the app. Children's views have no lives, energy, loot or purchase prompts. Purchases are behind the adult's code.
