It is a solid redo of the original game, with Working Designs' absurd difficulty modding available as a hard mode, though it feels like there are a very few minor issues. Critical Hits do not exist, nor do bosses get double turns at times to try to push you on the defensive at late game. Resistance gear such as lightning or fire resist do not do anything. Other than this, the game is a great way to enjoy a classic, and still has the WD charm without having them go off the deep-end

Love this game. Played and beat this on the Sega CD. Still have both. That being said this game is decent. Has a point and directional control system plus a paired controller option (I highly recommend). The d-pad controller is a bit annoying as it sits right above your character. The music and graphics are identical to the original game however the the text and voice are different. And it cuts/reduces some scenes that I've already noticed. If you like old school RPGs then you will like this.

Normal mode is way too easy and you'll miss out on fights completely in some areas (Graveyard tunnel for example) Hard mode IS normal Japanese difficulty (not the harder Working Designs abomination). Other then that the game plays fine as long as you go into it knowing the voice acting and dialog are new. An issue I've found so far is there isn't an indicator if a character can equip/use a Weapon/Armor in the shop menu. There should be a white dot but it's missing?

In the most recent update, you should see an indicator when shopping for equipment.
