Soppsporet

Soppsporet AS

About this app

The forest's best hiking companion. Soppsporet shows you when conditions are good, remembers where you found your gold, and keeps track of your mushroom collection. Made for Norwegian nature.

Mushroom Index (Soppsporet Plus)
Chanterelles and porcini mushrooms do not follow the same calendar. Every night, Soppsporet retrieves fresh figures from met.no, NVE and NIBIO and calculates one of five stages, from dormant to peak, for 18 edible mushrooms in each of the approximately 85,000 routes we have divided Norway into (approximately 5 km² each). You see the stage for today, the previous week and two days ahead, and the numbers behind each individual factor. The mushroom index is an aid for hiking planning, not a guarantee of a full basket.

Your secret map
Every find is pinned to the map, just for you. Next autumn you will know exactly which spruce tree delivered last year.

Your mushroom collection
Over 180 Norwegian species with characteristics, confusion species and season. Every species you find gets its place in your collection.

Trip log
Start a trip and log your discoveries along the way with photos, location and notes. The trip log writes itself; you pick mushrooms.

Learn the species
Mushroom quiz with real characteristics, species, edibility, habitat and confusion species that adapt to what you already know. The app never decides the species for you: it trains your eye.

Achievements
Unlock achievements as you find new species and complete trips. Track your progress as a mushroom picker.

Six mushroom friends
Choose a theme based on your favorite mushroom: Chanterelle, Fly agaric, Porcini, Porcini mushroom, Mushroom or Red Scrub. The app changes its appearance accordingly.

Works without coverage
Finds are recorded locally on your phone when you are in the forest, and are automatically synchronized when you are back online.

Soppsporet Plus is an optional subscription (39 kroner/month or 149 kroner/year) that unlocks the Mushroom Index — mushroom forecast, mushroom map and precipitation trend in real time — and the entire mushroom quiz. The map, mushroom book, trip log, today's quiz and achievements are free.

Important: Soppsporet does not identify mushrooms for you, and that is on purpose. You can safely learn how to identify the species from the mushroom control and mushroom associations. Never eat mushrooms that you are not completely sure about.
