Tally turns your tablet or phone into a control room for OBS Studio. You keep your hands on the picture while the PC encodes: scenes, audio, captures and macros stay within thumb's reach, without ever taking your eyes off the live feed.
The app connects to obs-websocket on your local network. Nothing goes through a server: your computer and your device talk to each other directly.
SEND A SCENE, WITHOUT A SLIP
The deck shows your scenes as large tiles, with a red edge on the one on air. A tap prepares, a hold sends. When you are live, a finger that slides must never switch the picture: that gesture is what guarantees you never go on air by accident.
SEE WHAT GOES OUT
A video preview of the scene on air, and a second one for the scene being prepared. The rate goes up to 30 frames per second; 24 by default, measured as the best balance between smoothness and device heat.
THE SOUND OF THE SCENE ON AIR
Faders for the audio sources actually in play, with one-tap mute. No mixer to scroll through: only what is going out right now.
WHAT THE PICTURE SHOWS
Switch between game capture, window capture and screen capture with one tap. Cameras have their own row and toggle on their own, because a camera sits on top of the picture instead of replacing it.
MACROS IN ONE TAP
Mute the mic, hide the camera and switch to the break scene in a single gesture. The actions go out together in one request: no intermediate state has time to show on air. The editor is driven entirely from the device.
LIVE CONTROLS
Recording, recording pause, streaming, virtual camera, replay buffer, studio mode and replay save. Recording and streaming durations stay on screen, with a clock.
VERTICAL CANVAS
If you use the Aitum Vertical Canvas plugin, its scenes, its state and its video preview appear next to the main canvas. The replay buffer can save both with a single tap.
ON A TABLET, ON A PHONE
On a tablet, 7 or 10 inches, the full control room fits under your eyes, with nothing to scroll. On a phone, it reads as one page: the video preview stays visible as a thumbnail while you scroll through scenes, macros, captures and audio, and volumes are set one notch at a time, one dB per tap. The on-air light and the live controls always stay on screen.
CONNECTING
Scan the QR code shown by OBS, or type the address by hand. If the Windows firewall blocks the connection — the most common cause of a first failure — the app says so and gives you the command to run.
A USB mode exists as an advanced option. It goes through an adb tunnel and works without a network, with far lower latency than WiFi. It requires developer mode on the device and adb installed on the PC: a technician's setup, not the default mode.
WHAT YOU NEED
• OBS Studio 28 or later, with the WebSocket server enabled
• The PC and the device on the same network (USB mode is for advanced users)
• An Android tablet or phone, Android 8 or later
• The Aitum Vertical Canvas plugin, only for the vertical features
PRIVACY
No data is collected, none is shared. Nothing leaves your device. The obs-websocket password is encrypted by the hardware keystore. The camera is used only to read the connection QR code, at your request.
Tally is an independent project, not affiliated with the OBS Project.
